• Welcome Letter from Principal

     

    Dear Thurgood Marshall Elementary Middle School Families,

     

     Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 school year!  I am thrilled to welcome you back to school. It is truly an honor for me to enter my first year as Principal of Thurgood Marshall Elementary Middle School after serving the in the district since 1998 in multiple capacities.  I am privileged to work with an outstanding team to make it a smooth transition for our students during this time especially after COVID. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Mr. Louis Carter, our returning Assistant Principal and our new Dean Walter Richardson. We are excited to work closely with you to ensure the success and well-being of all of our students.

     Thurgood Marshall is such a special place to learn and grow. We have high expectations for each and every student.  Our students are kind, compassionate, and inquisitive.  Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted and safe. At Thurgood, the future we want is for ALL students to have the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to thrive in our city, our nation and our world. We will continue to guide our mission to educate and empower every. Our goal is to encourage active student engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning.

     Partnering with families will be crucial this year as we face many obstacles due to the continuing global pandemic.  We appreciate your support as you work with students at home reminding them to continue to practice safety protocols such as wearing a mask (optional) and washing hands. We encourage families to stay connected and informed by following our district website for important updates.
