Principal's Welcome

  • Greetings Carleton Family,

I am so excited to continue to serve the Carleton Community in the role of Principal again this year. With all of the uncertainty and various challenges we have had over the past two years, we are all excited about the new school year and what it will bring. This year, we welcome Ms. Grace Williams from The Children’s Center, whose services will be available to students five days a week, and DHS Pathways to Potential Worker, Mr. James Watkins. We are also excited to bring the Boy Scouts of America to Carleton this year!

As we begin the new school year, we are committed to servicing the Whole Child. We are a Leader In Me School which consists of 7 Habits. Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood, Synergize, and Sharpen the Saw. These habits are introduced and reinforced daily in and out of the building. When these habits are modeled by students and staff, we create “Tomorrow’s Leaders Today.”

In addition to the 7 Habits, our very rigorous Reading (EL Learning) and Math (Eureka), Science, Social Studies curriculum, and new electives, we are planning many extracurricular offerings including but not limited to: Academic Games, Chess, Coding, Basketball, Soccer, Dance, Music and Cheerleading. Tutoring at every grade level will also be available, and because of the CARES Act funding received by the federal government, we anticipate several new after-school offerings provided by outside vendors. So, be on the lookout for newsletters, Class DOJO announcements, and robocalls with some exciting programming this year!

Please know that though we have experienced challenges, we have never wavered from our desire and love for teaching. Our expectation of excellence remains the same. We are fully committed to our Carleton Families. If you have any questions regarding your child and/or opportunities to become more involved, please do not hesitate to reach out to the office to have your questions answered. You can keep up with events, activities and all things regarding your child’s success by following us on Facebook and Twitter. Also, be sure to connect to ClassDojo to receive notes, direct messages and classroom updates. Finally, make sure contact numbers are up to date in order to receive Robo calls from the school and the District.
