Maurice El-Amin

My name is Maurice El-Amin I attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Cody High School.  I then graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga with a BS in Mathematics.  Afterwards I graduated from University of Detroit-Mercy with a MA in Curriculum and Instruction. I have worked my whole career in Detroit Public Schools.  Prior to becoming Principal of Southeastern in January of 2019, I worked the last 20 years at Cass Technical High School where I’ve worked as a Mathematics Teacher, Instructional Specialist and as Assistant Principal.  During my time at Cass I coached Academic Games where I have been awarded Coach of the year at both the State and National Levels.  I have been selected by over 10 students at the district's 3.5 Honors banquet as the students impact teacher.  For the 2017-18 school year, I was chosen to be the DPSCD Assistant Principal of the year.
