Carleton Elementary is a PK-5 school which places special emphasis on developing exceptional leadership skills and academic achievement. We are the district's first Leader In Me school which intentionally teaches the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Leadership to all students. Carleton provides a strong academic program that prepares students for success in higher education and in life. Our curriculum focuses on the core subjects of english, math, science, and social studies, and also offers a range of special classes, such as dance, computers, and physical education. In addition to providing a rigorous curriculum, we tap into other talents through our extracurricular activities, including Cheerleading, Chess, Coding, and Soccer.
Dedicated StaffCarleton has a team of dedicated teachers and staff who are committed to helping students succeed. The staff is trained to provide individualized attention to students, and the teachers use a variety of methods to meet the needs of different learning styles. When you walk through the halls of Carleton, you can feel the love from the fist bumps and hugs to the smiles and high fives. Everyone from the custodians to the principal are invested in helping our students become their best selves.
TechnologyOur school has 1:1 technology, which means students have daily access to laptops or iPads to use for instructional purposes and teachers use SMART interactive boards to enhance their lessons. We also have a computer lab where students receive computer science instructions ranging from application use, coding, typing, presentation tools, and digital citizenship. We continuously integrate technology into our daily curriculum, providing students with access to technological resources that can enhance their learning experiences.
Supporting the Whole ChildCarleton also provides a safe and supportive learning environment where students can feel comfortable and motivated to learn. We have security measures in place to ensure the safety of students and staff. We provide services to support the social and emotional needs of our students and families to help them overcome challenges, one of which is a clinician from The Children's Center as well as our counselor. We have a strong partnership with the local community and regularly host events and activities that bring parents, students, and staff together, creating a sense of community and support for the school.
