Mrs. Denise Allen

Mrs. Denise M. Allen is the Assistant Principal and Director of the Fine and Performing Arts for John R. King Academic and Performing Arts Academy (JRK). She is proud to join the JRK family by way of Howe Elementary, Bates Academy for the Gifted and Talented, and Cass Technical High School as a student. From Denby High School, Bates Academy for the Gifted and Talented, and King High School as an educator, Mrs. Allen is proud to be a product of the DPSCD school system. Mrs. Allen, graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Dance Education K-12, and later earned her master’s degree in Educational Leadership K-12. With over 23 years of experience in the classroom as a Dance Educator, she now comes to the JRK Administration Team with a passion to develop, grow, and lead with a heart of excellence. Assistant Principal Allen’s dedication to her students inspired her to work closely with the MAEIA: Michigan Arts Education Instruction & Assessment Program as a Lead Assessment Developer, DPSCD Teacher Evaluation Redesign Team, and DPSCD Academic Advisory Council where she helped to create the educational blueprint for the district.

With a strong concentration on the 3 A’s (Academics, Arts, and Athletics), Mrs. Allen focus goal is to help JRK students be successful citizens within our communities. As a transformational leader, Mrs. Allen is committed to encouraging, inspiring, and motivating both the staff and students of JRK that will help to create change and growth for all stakeholders.

Mrs. Allen is dedicated, determined, and yes, she has the desire to work with all students, staff members, parents, and community partners to make sure JRK is the best it can be.
