Enrollment Window is Open at your local neighborhood school: We are providing assistance with enrolling in the 2023-2024 school year. The first day of school is Monday August 28, 2023. DPSCD will be onsite at Adam/ Butzel Recreation Center, 10500 Lyndon from 3 p.m. - 5 p. m Tuesday July 25. Enroll your child and learn more about the enrollment process. Get Ready for DPSCD Summer on the Block: Families, join the Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) team Thursday, July 27, 2023. There are two locations and times to fit your schedule: Ronald Brown Academy, 11530 East Outer Drive Detroit, MI 48224 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. or Carstens Elementary School, 13000 Essex Avenue Detroit MI 48228, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. There will be free food, giveaways, fun activities for the children, as well as resources and enrollment support for families. DPSCD Back to School Expos! Mark your calendar! From August 1 to August 18, DPSCD is excited to host the back-to-school open houses. This year, each school will host its unique event on a date that works for its community, providing students and families the opportunity to explore schools and meet with the staff. Fall Athletics Practice Begins Monday August 7: Extra-curricular activities such as athletics help our students unlock their full potential, part of the District’s Whole Child Commitment priority. Starting Monday, August 7, 2023, DPSCD student athletes can begin fall practice. Whether in football, cross country, swimming, golf, tennis, or cheerleading, DPSCD provides opportunities for our male and female student athletes to rise in the classroom and in competition. If you are interested in participating in a sport this fall, contact your school for more information.
Detroit Early Honors Experience: The Department of Gifted and Talented Education and the Office of Exceptional Student Education in partnership with Michigan State University Honors College will be offering an honors enrichment experience for rising DPSCD students in grades 8 and 9. Join us Wednesday August 2, 2023 – Friday August 4, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at MSU Detroit, Center 3408 Woodward Ave. Students will experience this Free program that offers hands-on interaction and research experiences in Storytelling and the Arts and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
