March into Reading

March is a special time at Roberto Clemente Learning Academy as we embark on an exciting journey to celebrate the joy of reading! Join us throughout the month as we immerse ourselves in the wonderful world of books and stories. During the first full week of reading month (March 4- March 8) our reading activity will be D.E.A.R. Time.  Drop everything and read daily for 20 minutes at the start of class. The second week (March 11- March 15) of reading month the activity will be Poem in your Pocket. Be ready to recite a poem when asked and receive a ticket to be entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of the week.  Also, during that week we will have guests and parents join us and read at the school.  If you would like to participate, please be sure to complete the volunteer application.  Help us to celebrate reading and a successful reading month by participating in the following dress-up days for the month:

March 8: Dr. Seuss Day. Wear red or white or dress like your favorite Dr. Seuss character

March 11: Hats On for Reading-Wear your favorite hat with appropriate school words

March 12: Wacky Socks

March 13: 313 Day-Represent your love for Detroit by wearing Detroit Apparel

March 14: St. Patrick's Day-Wear Green (PreK Only)

March 15: St. Patrick's Day-Wear Green (k-5th grade)

March 18: Glow Crazy for Books-Wear neon colors 

March 19- Book Character Day-Dress up as your favorite book character

March 20- Read a shirt day-Wear a shirt with appropriate school words 

March 21- Flashlight Day-Snuggle up with a book in your pajamas and bring a flashlight for reading

March 22- Dress like you are going to read a good book on the beach. 

Make sure to read and complete your reading logs for the month on Friday, March 22.
