Osborn experiences a day as a Rocket

Osborn scholars were able to visit the University of Toledo with U-M Gear Up this past fall.  The scholars participated in a campus tour and student panel that exposed them to college life. During the tour, scholars were able to sit in on lectures, talk with faculty, and gain access to student life spaces such as dorms, dining halls, and recreational facilities.

During the student panel, Osborn scholars were able to ask current students about:

  • Personal Experiences: Stories about why they chose Toledo, challenges they’ve faced, and memorable experiences.
  • Tips for Success: Insights on transitioning from high school to college, managing time, and using resources.
  • Academic Paths: Descriptions of their majors, internships, or research projects.
  • Student Life: Discussing clubs, sports, or events they’re involved in.

This visit proved to be very beneficial to the Osborn scholars because it proved to be inspirational--- giving students motivation to pursue higher education, Informative--- as scholars were able to learn about academic programs, admission processes, and campus culture, acting as a connector--- as it allowed Osborn students a chance to interact with current students making the experience relatable and engaging.
