Dr. LaTeresa Hurley
Dr. LaTeresa Hurley is curently the Assistant Principal at Gardner Elementary. She is a native Detroiter and a proud product of Detroit Public Schools Community District. After graduating from Redford High School. She received her Associate degree in Business Administration from Henry Ford College, Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Marygrove College, a Master of Arts in Reading form Marygrove College, an Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University. Her commitment to improving her knowledge and skills to better serve and support the students, parents, staff, colleagues and community is evident through her continuous engagement in numerous professional development and professional learning opportunities.
She has been actively engaged in education for over twenty years. She began her career as a kindergarten teacher and has had a variety of teaching assignments serving Preschool to Eighth grade. Throughout her career, she has held a variety of educational leadership roles such as School Improvement Chair, Instructional Specialist, Testing Coordinator, Executive Director of Continuous Improvement, and Academic Engagement Administrator. She has been a member of several professional organizations as well as attended numerous education and leadership professional development. She is also a mother of two children, a wife, a daughter, sister and an aunt who has always stressed the importance of excelling to meet your full potential. She strives to model the grit required from an individual seeking to unlock their full potential. She is committed to providing an environment that all students and staff are encouraged to enhance their knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to thrive in our city, our nation, our world.
