Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! I am honored to continue serving as the building leader of Gardner Elementary for what promises to be an interesting yet exciting school year as we all make the necessary transitions to educate our children through the COVID-19 Pandemic. The staff and administration have been working diligently throughout the summer to prepare for the opening of school on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

There have been quite a few changes due to COVID-19. Especially with parents selecting their preference of F2F (Face to Face) or online instruction for the first quarter of school. Students who are working online will use Teams, Schoology, Clever and other online platforms to engage in instruction daily. Those students who have selected F2F instruction will come to the building Monday-Friday from 8:30-3:40 with classroom limited to no more than 20 students following CDC and District guidelines for social distancing. As safety is our first priority for students and staff, we have put many protocols in place to ensure we are safe and stopping the spread of COVID-19. Some of those protocols include taking temperatures of students and staff as they enter the building daily, frequent hand washing and maintaining 6 feet of distance between individuals. To gain more information about the new protocols, new student platforms and meet new instructional staff, please plan to attend our Parent/Student Orientation scheduled for Friday, September 4, 2020 from 10:00-12:00.

Our school hours have not changed; they remain 8:30-3:40 Monday through Friday. Doors will not open early this year, as students will be eating breakfast in their classrooms. Please do not leave students outside before 8:30, as this is unsafe because they will be unattended. We will continue our parking/driving structure with the flow of traffic moving clockwise around the building; the passenger door should always open to the curb for safety reasons. Make sure to park legally, be aware of driveways and help us continue to be good neighbors by keeping your music level to a minimum when dropping off and picking up students.

We are ready to begin the 2020-2021 school year! Thank you for entrusting us with the education of your children. The hours that your children are with us each day are vitally important to their future and we plan to utilize them wisely. Thriving in our city, our nation, our world…we are Gladiator Strong!
