Edwynn Bell joined Ronald Brown Academy in 2024. His career began at Marcus Garvey Academy, where he was an Educational Technician. Before joining Detroit Public Schools Community District, Mr. Bell taught Middle School Math and was a secondary administrator.

Mr. Bell was born and raised on the east side of Detroit. He attended Detroit Public School District, graduating from Southeastern High School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy in Elementary Education with a specialization in mathematics. This specialty area informs his leadership and teaching approach, as he views literacy as the foundation of academic progress. Mr. Bell earned his master’s degree in Math Education from Wayne State University and attained his Educational Administration Certificate from Grand Valley State University.

Mr. Bell is a very visible principal, and he states the best part of his job is interacting with students and building positive relationships. His educational philosophy is based on his uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, an encouraging community, and a supportive family.

During his free time, Mr. Bell enjoys reading, running, and spending time with his family.
