Ms. Monique Dooley
Bagley School of Journalism and Technology proudly welcomes Ms. Monique Dooley as our new principal—a dynamic and seasoned leader with over 25 years of distinguished service in education. A proud graduate of Detroit Public Schools and an alumna of Renaissance High School, Ms. Dooley brings with her a legacy of achievement, innovation, and an unshakable belief in the brilliance of every child. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Howard University, and both a Master of Arts and Educational Specialist Certification from Wayne State University. Before joining Bagley, Ms. Dooley served three impactful years as Principal of Mackenzie Elementary-Middle School, where her leadership elevated the school by a full letter grade. Her tenure was marked by bold initiatives—including a Ron Clark–inspired House System, a thriving Gifted and Talented Program, immersive virtual reality instruction, a model outdoor classroom, and transformative after-school programming. Prior to her principalship, she served as Assistant Principal at both Hutchinson and Davison Elementary-Middle Schools, and as a Math Master Teacher at Davison, where she supported instructional excellence and student achievement in mathematics. Renowned as an innovator, mentor, and visionary, Ms. Dooley is also an entrepreneur and lifelong learner who has launched and nurtured numerous youth initiatives. She is passionate about helping young people recognize their greatness and rise to meet it. Ms. Dooley is excited to carry the torch of Bagley’s tradition of excellence and to lead our scholars to new heights. She is committed to working in close partnership with our esteemed staff, families, and community to nurture confident, compassionate, and globally-minded student leaders. With a leadership style rooted in integrity, compassion, innovation, and collaboration, Ms. Dooley’s arrival marks a bold new chapter for Bagley—one filled with purpose, possibility, and promise.
