Jeanine D. Melton was born and raised in Detroit and is a product of the Detroit Public Schools system. She has spent the last 23 years educating and leading in the city of Detroit. Her journey as an educator began at Detroit Public Schools and moved to various districts, but she returned to the district that was responsible for her education to continue to make the impact that she felt as a student.
Ms. Melton attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI where she obtained a Bachelor of Art in English with a Secondary Education certification. After beginning her teaching career, she began advanced degree work before completing a Master in the Art of Teaching and a Master of Art in Educational Leadership, both from Marygrove College.
Passionate about service and her community, Ms. Melton participates in numerous charitable organizations, activities, and events each month. Her goals are to educate the urban student in an academically rigorous, emotionally positive, and engaging environment.
