About Our School

Detroit Lions Academy (DLA) is an alternative school with three unique programs. One of our programs provides an opportunity for over-age middle school students to get back on the path to success to reach high school. The second program provides an opportunity for high school students to make up for missed classes, improve grades, and earn the credits needed for high school graduation. Our third program provides a second chance for students who cannot succeed in a regular school environment.

All programs provide a second chance to be successful in a supportive academic and social environment.

Detroit Lions Academy provides high-quality face-to-face education. To meet each student's needs, we offer smaller classroom sizes to deliver individualized and small-group instruction. Our school participates in our district's implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) to improve and encourage positive behaviors and academic outcomes.

We proudly stand with our district by supporting “Expect Respect". Students are taught positive character traits to help them become respectful individuals who treat others with kindness. Our strong partnership with the Detroit Lions organization helps us provide incentives, experiences, activities, resources, and support to students and families.
