Mr. Anthony Ianni

Greetings!

My name is Mr. Ianni, and I am honored to serve as your Dean of Culture at Bow. I grew up in Okemos, Michigan, and attended Okemos Public Schools from grades K-12. I went to Wardcliff Elementary School, Chippewa Middle School and graduated from Okemos High School in 2007. After high school, I attended Grand Valley State University on a basketball scholarship before transferring to Michigan State University, where I played for Tom Izzo and received my bachelor's degree in Sociology. I will soon be working on my Master’s in Higher Education Administration. This is my first year working in the Detroit Public School system after working at the Michigan Department of Civil Rights as an Analyst and running the department’s Anti-Bullying initiative “The Relentless Tour” working with countless students and teachers on being the change you wish to see in life and providing a positive environment in a school setting for over 10 years. I’m also the author of the book titled, Centered: Autism, Basketball and One Athlete’s Dreams, which is based on my life growing up on the autism spectrum to becoming the first NCAA Division One basketball player with an autism diagnosis.

In my spare time, I’m usually watching my MSU Spartans, Alabama Crimson Tide Football, the Warriors, Red Wings, and the Lions (hopefully, make it to a Super Bowl someday), reading, learning to grow more as a person and in my profession, traveling, but more importantly, I enjoy being with and watching my 3 beautiful kids, Knox, Nash, and Lola, grow every day.

My goal as Dean is to help continue providing a positive culture and atmosphere here at Bow School and to make sure I can help all students in every way possible to help them achieve their goals in and out of the classroom.  I will ensure that all staff and students will be given the opportunity to receive recognition for their efforts and successes because their success is Bow’s success. I am all about being a part of a team and family and I want to make sure we all share our successes together because we are all Eagles! I am very excited to be working with our students, parents, staff members, and all vested stakeholders in the community in continuing to help bring a positive culture to Bow and being a part of the Eagles Family.
