Mr. David Bailey

Mr. Bailey began his educational career in the Detroit Public Schools District in 1996 as an Educational Technician. Principal Bailey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Administration from the University of Detroit Mercy.

Mr. Bailey spent several years teaching within the district as a middle school Science teacher at Erma L. Henderson Academy and Bates Academy before accepting his first administrative position as Assistant Principal for Burton International. In 2018, Mr. Bailey returned to Bates Academy as Principal. This year marks his sixth year as principal of Bates Academy school for the gifted and talented.

His educational experiences have allowed him to collaborate with a diverse group of people to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement and well-being. His educational philosophy is based on his uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused academic team, an encouraging community, and a supportive family. All of which the Detroit Public Schools Community District possesses.
