Web Girls
Web Girls Club is a GET-IT (Girls Exploring Together Information Technology) in-school technology, education-based program designed to encourage high school girls to consider and ultimately pursue a career in information technology. Weekly club meetings provide structured hands-on learning activities through a comprehensive technology-focused curriculum. Girls will receive hands-on experience in web design, computer science, coding, robotics, and mobile apps. Students also benefit from participating in robotic and web design competitions, field trips, job shadowing, and business speakers/leaders’ visitations. GPA Requirement: 2.0 and letter of interest. Join: Enrolled in Marketing/Business course with Program Advisor. All students are asked to attend weekly meetings, sign a press and photo release form. Marketing/Business Club
DECA, an association of marketing student, is a student organization for high school students who have career interest in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. DECA’s co-curricular learning program integrates classroom instruction, applies learning, and promotes competition through projects and activities in marketing, finance, hospitality and management career pathways. Student Government
All students in the organization participate in organizing school-wide events including and not limited to homecoming, canned food drive, and more. GPA Requirement: 2.5 or higher; Join: Elections for officers and representatives take place the school year before. Freshmen will have the opportunity to apply for student government later in the middle of the year. Most meetings will take place during lunch. Age/Grade: 10th -12th Contact: Samantha Shuk
Journalism Club
The Journalism Club is open to all SE students who are not eligible to take Journalism as an elective but are interested in contributing to the yearbook, Dialogue, SE Newsletter, School Announcements or Social Media. Students will expand their skills to use journalism-style writing, layout, and photography. The club supports the Journalism elective. National Honor Society
SE NHS is a chapter of the nationwide NHS. It recognizes outstanding academic achievement and leadership. Students are positioned to receive scholarships and internship opportunities through participation. Active students plan and execute service projects in their school and community, often working closely with Student Government. For the 2018-19 school year, NHS students will complete three projects. GPA Requirement: 3.3 or higher and other criteria, such as good behavior, attendance and academic standing. Join: The application process begins in January, students are notified in February and the induction ceremony is held in March. Meet twice a month on Mondays. Jungaleers Dance Team
The SE dance team will be comprised of students who have a desire to dance. The goal is for dancers to be focused physically, mentally, and academically. The goal is to create a team that supports one another, encourages high academic standards, and is open-minded with a growth mindset. Students will also perform a small concert at the end of the school year to showcase the work they accomplished. Lastly, outside guests will come in to teach master classes that will be open to all students, staff and community members. GPA Requirement: Participants must maintain a 2.5 GPA to remain active on the team. Join: Complete an application. Dancers will practice three days a week for approximately 90 minutes.
