Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Staff and Community Partners:
Welcome back to what promises to be a productive, progressive, and safe 2024-2025 school year for our Cody community! A new school year is an opportunity to approach our collective work with intention and continuous improvements. We need you to play a key role in the on-going positive transformation of our school. Your partnership, feedback, ideas, solutions, expectations, and active participation on this educational journey will help us to become the change you wish to see in the school and the community. We owe it to our students and the future of our community to work collaboratively, to be solution-oriented, to be accountable to each other, to control our narrative by amplifying the good, to get involved and commit to doing the work that’s needed to cultivate a safe, orderly, healthy, caring, and positive environment for learning to THRIVE and to yield high results. As the building principal of Detroit Frank Cody High School, I invite you to partner with us on a collaborative journey to serve the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students. They are our most prized possession and the world’s most valuable resource. Therefore, let’s work together to give them our very best.
The Rise to excellence continues at Cody High School. This school year, while supplies last, student will receive a free uniform shirt at the student orientation. This year we are also excited to offer a Certified Personal Trainer Program and an E-Sports gaming lab for Cody Students to compete in DPSCD E-Sports league. We have partnered with Microsoft TEALS to offer Advanced Placement Computer Programming (i.e., Coding, Game Design, Cybersecurity). JROTC was successful last school year and will be returning this school year so that students will be prepared to pursue a career in the Armed Services after high school. Additionally, students will have access to Dual-Enrollment classes through WCCD & Wayne State University during the school day to gain college credit. Cody offers College & Career exploration, After-school enrichment programs, and a full Sports Program for students.
