Dr. James Charles

Greetings Carver Staff, Scholars, Parents, and Community

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the newly appointed Assistant Principal of Carver STEM Academy. I am incredibly honored to have been chosen to assist and work alongside Principal Evans in leading our educational community toward success. We are extremely fortunate to serve a supportive community of dedicated teachers, involved parents, and diverse learners.

I am a proud native and resident of Detroit and a product of the Detroit Public Schools Community District, having graduated from Detroit Central High School in the class of 1997. My educational journey continued at Southern University, where I earned my Bachelor's degree, followed by a Master of Arts from Boston University, and a PhD in Leadership in Education Administration from Capella University.

With over 15 years of experience in education, I have had the privilege of serving in various roles including teacher, fine arts school co-chair, coach, director of bands, and department head in Louisiana, the District of Columbia, and Michigan. My passion for education drives me to create an environment where our students can thrive and excel in this competitive global society.

I am thrilled to be a part of Carver STEM Academy and look forward to working together to build a brighter future for our students.
