Principal's Welcome

  • Front of Harms School

    Dear Harms Families,

I am very happy and humbled to continue serving as the principal at Harms. The last two years have been extremely challenging in more ways than one, but we have never lowered the academic or behavior expectations for our students. Our teachers and staff have worked hard to make learning fun, relevant and meaningful, so students could once again feel comfortable being back in the building with their classmates. We will continue to build on this momentum to help our students become successful.

We are fortunate to have a school culture that is caring and welcoming. This means that we get to know all our students well so we can provide them the academic, emotional and behavior support they need. We strive to teach our students to live with integrity, so they always do the right thing even when no one is looking. We also provide our students with strategies to resolve conflict through conversations and role playing, as this is a lifelong skill they will need.

As we get ready for a new school year, we are committed to the Core Values that our District has established. We want to make decisions that are in the best interest of our students with you as our partners. Keep your phone number and address current so we can reach you when needed. Always look for our monthly newsletter and calendar so you can stay up to date with events and activities. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Join Class Dojo so you can communicate with the teachers and school staff. You can always call the school and speak with our friendly and knowledgeable office staff.

We are planning parent workshops to help you understand how to better help your child with homework, review their grades, and get familiar with our curriculum. We will share information ahead of time, so you can plan to attend.

It is my privilege to serve this wonderful community, and I’m excited to begin a new school year as we emerge from the challenges of a world pandemic.

    Respectfully,

    Claudia Lara-Martinez, Principal
