• Welcome Letter from Principal Michelle Lee

    August 30, 2021

Dear Burns Elementary Middle School Families,

Welcome to the 2021- 2022 academic school year.  I am excited to finally welcome you back to school.  As the new Principal of Burns, it is an honor to join a school where the climate and culture radiate's beyond Burns’ walls, but in the community at large as well.  I am fortunate to join an amazing staff and team.  I’m looking forward to meeting new and returning families.

Over the summer, I have met many families and helped eliminate concerns to mitigate the risks associated with Covid 19.  We will work hard to make sure our families follow the Covid 19 protocols put in place to keep us all safe.  These protocols include increased handwashing with soap or hand sanitizer, social distancing, wearing masks, and an increased cleaning of areas.  Additional best practices are to take your child’s temperature prior to leaving home.  If your child has a fever of 100.4 or is not feeling well, your child should remain home.  The district is requiring staff and students with signed permission to test weekly for Covid 19. Covid 19 testing is held at Burns on Tuesday from 12:30 to 4:30 each week.

Burns is an awesome school for students and families due to our dedicated staff who are invested in our student's academic success.  Also, teachers and support staff understand the importance of nurturing students’ social and emotional learning.  Still a gem in the community, Burns value the input from our families. We look forward to the start-up of our PTA, connecting again with our community partners, and collaborating on behalf of our students.  We are committed to WIN this year.

    Educationally yours,

    Ms. Michelle Lee
