• Orton-Gillingham is a direct, explicit, multisensory, structured, sequential, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy when reading, writing, and spelling to those individuals where it does not come easily.  The Orton-Gillingham Approach has been around for over 75 years.  DPSCD has decided to adopt this approach to teaching phonics to students who are reading and performing below grade level.  DPSCD has partnered with Brainspring and trained ESE, Academic Interventionist, as well as paraprofessionals to reach those students who struggle with reading.
