Children’s Book Week is This Week: In recognition of Children’s Book Week, Nov. 7-Nov. 13, 2022, parents and families can help drive your student's interest in reading. Think about your favorite authors, as well as other titles you have heard of from your family, friends, work colleagues and reviews you have already read. Veterans Day is Friday, November 11: The District encourages all of us to honor and remember those who serve or have served in our Armed Forces and continue to serve by educating the children of our community. Thank you for your service to the country and community!

Examination High School Workshops: To help prepare our students for the High School Exam, there are several activities happening this week:

  • In-person Open Houses at King High School, Wednesday, Nov. 9, 4 p.m.-6 p.m. and at CMA High School, also on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 3 p.m.-5 p.m.
  • Also, one-on-one virtual support sessions continue this week to assist students and families with their exam high school applications on Tuesday’s (5 p.m.-7 p.m.), Thursday’s (9 p.m.-11 p.m.) and Friday’s (5 p.m.-7 p.m.).

School Spotlight Edison Elementary School: Serving our families with children in Pre-K through 5th grade, Edison Elementary is a school that provides traditional and Montessori educational programs in a nurturing and positive environment. Offerings include Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as well as music, physical education and much more. ESE Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) Meeting Wednesday, November 9 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.: PAC seeks to empower Exceptional Student Education parents, guardians and grandparents with knowledge concerning the special education process and delivery of services. Schools Closed November 8th Election Day and PD Day: DPSCD schools will be closed Tuesday, November 8th for Election Day and Professional Development (PD) Day for DPSCD educators. Encourage your voting age eligible students to participate in our country’s democracy by exercising their right to vote in the election.
