Darnell Blackburn WDIV
WDIV Channel 4 traffic and safety anchor Darnell Blackburn recently paid a special visit to the 3rd to 5th graders during Reading Month festivities. With his characteristic enthusiasm, Blackburn shared insights from his journey, transitioning from a police officer to a news anchor. He emphasized the importance of perseverance in pursuing dreams and engaged the students in discussions about their aspirations. Adding to the excitement, Blackburn read two captivating books with the students: "Free to be Me" by Carmen Willingham and "Black is a Rainbow Color" by Angela Joy. The children greeted him with lively music and enthusiastic high-fives, making the event an unforgettable experience for all. A special “Thank You” goes out to Ms. Rudolph for her dedication and commitment to our students and school, making events like these possible.
