Lights, Camera, Action!! Y Media Arts Field Trip
Y Media Arts is a joint venture between the YMCA and DPSCD that introduces middle school students to video production and photography. The program is set up by Detroit School of Performing Arts High School as a means to recruit interested students to their visual media program. Students learn how to make story boards, video editing, as well as learn about camera angles and lighting for both digital and video cameras. Students are taken on a field trip to a local Public Broadcasting Service(PBS) station to observe how programs are videotaped and set up. At the end of the program, students go to the Boll Family YMCA in downtown Detroit for a showcase of each school's video and photography projects.
