The Holiday with Room 9

Room 9 at Moses Field School had a wonderful holiday season full of fun, festivities, and holiday cheer! Led by Mrs. Brown, the teacher, and Ms. Dukes, the ESE paraprofessional, the students of the MOCI (Moderate Cognitive Impairment) class enjoyed a series of special activities that made this year’s celebrations truly memorable.

The fun began with a trip to Great Lakes Crossing for Christmas shopping and pictures. The students had the chance to pick out gifts for their loved ones and, of course, pose for festive holiday photos. The excitement was tangible as the students navigated the mall, exploring the decorations, and creating memories that they will cherish for years to come.

Back at school, the holiday spirit continued to shine. The students were treated to a special holiday story session with Mrs. Claus, in the breezeway to read a heartwarming tale. The students listened intently, captivated by the magic of the season, and the warmth of Mrs. Claus’ cheerful presence.

In addition to the story, the students had the chance to decorate delicious holiday cookies with Moses Field's occupational therapist, Mrs. Baron. Each student used icing, sprinkles, and candy to decorate their cookies, engaging their creativity and fine motor skills while enjoying some sweet treats.

One of the highlights of the celebration was a visit from Moses Field School's very own in-house Santa Claus. The students enjoyed taking photos with Santa, creating a joyful atmosphere and allowing everyone to get into the holiday spirit. Santa’s jolly laughter and kind words made the experience even more special.

“It’s always a joy to see the students so excited and engaged in these activities,” said Mrs. Brown, the teacher of Room 9. “The holidays are a time for giving, sharing, and making lasting memories, and we’re so grateful to have had these experiences together as a class.”

The holidays in Room 9 were a heartwarming reminder of the joy of togetherness and the importance of creating special moments that students will carry with them. With the support of Mrs. Brown, Ms. Dukes, and the wonderful staff at Moses Field School, the students had a festive holiday season filled with laughter, learning, and love.
