Cradle-to-Career Campus at Marygrove
A new DPSCD school that provides a cradle-to-career educational program will soon be offered on the campus of Marygrove College. The School at Marygrove will bring together exemplary learning opportunities from prenatal to Pre-K, K-12, and post-secondary to graduate-level in a “cradle-to-career” continuum. At full capacity, the school will serve roughly 1,000 Detroit students and will also offer wrap-around services and community engagement programs. Every graduate will be prepared to pursue their passions and succeed in personal and professional endeavors. The first phase of the new school at Marygrove will open in the fall of 2019 with a ninth-grade pilot program, and successive grades will be added each year.
First Year - 9th Grade Class
Continuing the Marygrove College legacy, this new school will develop critical thinkers and community-minded citizens who have the skills and knowledge to be makers and leaders in the 21st century. As one of five DPSCD examination high schools, the 9th Grade class at The School at Marygrove is the first and only examination high school to be located on a college campus in Michigan. Through an engineering and design focus, students will collaborate to identify and solve complex problems, and participate in the creation of a more just and equitable future. Applications are now being accepted for ninth-graders through Jan. 18, 2019.
Social Justice and Leadership Through Engineering
What's the intersection? Combining a learning experience based on Social Justice and Leadership through Engineering requires experienced critical thinkers who can solve complex problems. Whether it be improving a product or improving a community, social justice and leadership through engineering provides a framework for problem solving. The curriculum for the new high school is being developed in collaboration with the University of Michigan School of Education.
