We would like to congratulate the following students whose art pieces have been accepted in this year’s 85th DPSCD Art Exhibition! Their work will be on display in the student art show at the Detroit Institute of Arts!

This year for the first time at Mark Twain Elementary we have our very own seventh grade student that took first place in the painting category! Please give a big congratulations to Bria Whitfield! We are so proud of her! This Friday Bria Whitfield will be honored with a special student’s celebration and media preview at the Detroit Institute of Arts!

Spelling Bee
Students are given a packet with spelling words. They must practice and be prepared to spell words along with others. Each student will receive a certificate at the end of the program.

Math Bee
Students get a packet to work on speed in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Students work very hard to answer questions quickly.

Over the past few weeks, the middle school students have been gathering information about a famous person, event, or group for their Black History Project. Here are just a few pictures of the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders that presented in front of the class and shared information with classmates.

Spring Concert
Students use this time to share their talents on stage. They sing, recite poetry, dance or rap.

Reuse, Reduce, Recycle!
Earth Day
We teach the students the importance about recycling, keeping things clean and help others to keep rooms organized.

Wednesday- Cartoon Character- A shirt with a cute and cuddly character (children aged appropriate)

Career Day
DPSCD Career Day
Mark Twain Staff invites visitors to come and talk about their careers. Visitors receive scehdule for half the day and enters several classrooms to talk to the students. Some of them will bring props or gift bags for the kids to have after the session.
