    Dismissal

Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd graders exit through the main door on Burns (Door 1).
3rd, 4th, and 5th graders exit through (Door 4) located on Burns.
Middle school students exit through (Door 6) located on Burns near Goethe.

    Late Arrivals

Students who arrive late to school must ring the buzzer at the main door (Door 1) to gain entrance into the building. Once students enter they must sign in with the security guard, then proceed to their classroom.

    Early Pick ups

The end of the day is rich in a variety of important activities: students receive the last instructional part of the day. It is a time for questions and answers, it is a time where homework is being given and explained. It is also a time when different housekeeping activities take place. The end of the day routines are very important to teach students organizational skills, and to allow for a formal closing of the day’s activities. Please be aware that if you choose to pick up your child before school dismissal you must enter through the main door, sign in at the security desk and report immediately to the main office. Do not go to your child's class or other areas of the building to get your child. Again this procedure is set in place to ensure the safety of all children at Nichols.

Student Safety Is Important At Nichols Elementary

For the safety of your child, please refrain from dropping of your child to early. The school doors open at 8:25am and breakfast begins at 8:30am. In the event that you wish to speak to your child's teacher in the morning, we ask that you come into the office, sign in, and  schedule an appointment. Teachers are usually preparing for students arrival so meetings in the morning is limited. Teachers are available during their prep periods for extensive conversations regarding your child individual needs.

When dropping of your student, please follow all traffic laws. Please refrain from parking or idling directly in front of the school or on the side of the building. School buses are entering from this direction and if cars are parked on both sides of the street the area becomes congested making it difficult for buses to enter and exit. Please do not block or enter the teacher parking lot. If you are volunteering for the day, feel free to use the lot if available.
