Clippert Academy has a variety of academic clubs and programs based around student interest. Click through the gallery below to see a few pictures from some of the exciting opportunities!
- Academic Games: A program that asks students to compete at tournaments in games that require critical thinking skills and knowledge in math, english, and social studies.
- CMU TRIO Upward Bound Program: This outreach program helps our students find a path to college. It is a college academic program that guides our students to develop their potential to succeed in college. Once accepted, students are invited to participate until high school graduation.
- English as a Second Language Program: Clippert’s ESL classes provide students with extra assistance with language development skills. This program is for those students that need to learn basic English language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). As students gain their skills and reach assessment goals, they transition to English Language Arts classrooms.
- DAPCEP: The Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program provides our students innovative educational programming in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine. Through this supplemental educational programming, students become prepared academically to pursue degrees leading to powerful careers.
- Destination Imagination: This afterschool program blends art, STEM, and creative problem solving skills. Students are given guidelines for their creativity based on which category in which they wish to complete. Categories include Fine Arts, Improv, and Technical, Scientific, and Engineering Challenges. Every group participates in Instant Challenges which ask them to work cooperatively to come up with a solution to a given task.
- FIRST Robotics: Students use their STEM talents to build a robot that needs to be able to complete tasks.
- Ignite Club: Clippert's honors programs requires that students have outstanding academic achievement and citizenship. Students that qualify for this program are able to participate in a fun activity each quarter. Some past activities have included an ice cream party, ice skating afternoon, and even a trip to the movie theater!
- Inside Out Literary Arts Program: Students meet afterschool to work on creative writing projects and are led by the wonderful program staff to aid students in discovering the power of language and the written word for creating change.
- SeaPerch Robotics: Partnered with the US Navy, students work cooperatively to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle. At competitions they navigate this ROV through obstacle course and program it to complete various tasks.
- Shakespeare in Detroit: In a fun, engaging afterschool environment students learn how STEAM and theater are connected through study of the works on William Shakespeare.
- Student Council: Student Council representatives are chosen from each homeroom and are called upon to provide a voice for their peers and to provide service for their school community.
