Dr. Kimberly Dawkins
Dr. Kimberly Dawkins is an accomplished educator with a strong background in the Detroit Public Schools Community District. She began her educational journey as a student in Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Renaissance High School. After completing her high school education, she continued to pursue her passion for education by earning her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University.
After graduating from MSU, Dr. Dawkins returned to the Detroit Public Schools system, where she started her career at Coffey Middle School as a mathematics teacher. Over the years, she has taken on various roles within the education field, including teacher, math Instructional Specialist, Assistant Principal, and, most recently, the Principal of Wayne Elementary School.
Dr. Dawkins is a dedicated lifelong learner, as evidenced by her academic achievements. She earned her Master's degree from Wayne State University and later achieved her Doctorate of Education from Michigan State University, showcasing her commitment to educational excellence.
Her philosophy of teaching is grounded in the belief that all students have the potential to excel academically. Dr. Dawkins firmly believes that it is the responsibility of educators to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment that builds upon each student's strengths and helps them realize their full potential.
As the Principal of Wayne Elementary School, Dr. Dawkins is enthusiastic about her role and looks forward to collaborating with the school's staff, students, parents, and the community at large. Her goal is to foster a positive and enriching school environment that not only supports academic growth but also propels the Wayne Rockets to reach new heights, and as she aptly puts it, "Infinity and Beyond!" Her dedication to the students and the community she serves reflects her commitment to the field of education.
