MEET YOUR
2025 PRINCIPAL 2026
Dear Prestigious Pulaski Parent,
WELCOME to the 2025-2026 academic school year. I am excited to begin this leveled up school year. This is my sixth year as Principal of Pulaski. Previously, I served as Assistant Principal and as an Instructional Specialist. Education is my passion and your child’s success is my goal.
Attendance
Scholars are present and on time daily at 7:30am; chronic absenteeism will result in a possible Parent Responsibility Fines and Court Appearances. If your child is unable to attend school, please contact your child’s teacher prior to 8am. Leave a voicemail or an email. We have continually reduced absenteeism since 2021. If you need help, please ask.
Uniform
ALL Scholars MUST be in FULL Uniform DAILY. Red shirts, Black Uniform Pants or Skirt to the knees, optional black or red sweater – NO HOODIES. When scholars are out of uniform parents will be called to bring appropriate clothing. (NO JOGGING PANTS, JEANS, RIPS/TEARS, LEGGINGS, FOAM RUNNERS, CROCS, SANDALS, FLIP FLOPS, SLIDES, HOODIES, HEADSCARVES, OR BANDANAS).
Cell Phones
Cell phones are to be kept out of sight and not visible. The settings should be off or on silent. Pulaski is NOT responsible for lost or stolen phones. Scholars using phones or recording during school hours will be subject to discipline from the Student Code of Conduct and may have the phone confiscated to be retrieved by a parent.
Parents
Parents! Please be encouraged to attend Monthly Parent Workshops. You are invited to attend our upcoming Curriculum Nights, Reading Nights, and Parent Teacher Conferences. I ENCOURAGE you to be ACTIVE and ENGAGED in your scholar’s education. We MUST work together for the betterment of our scholars. We must work collaboratively for the betterment of our scholars and the Pulaski Community. When necessary, please contact me at tyra.smith-dean@detroitk12.org or 313-866-7022.
