Mrs. Tyra R. Smith-Bell, Ed.S.

Principal Tyra Smith-Bell, Ed.S. is a product of the Detroit Public Schools, graduating from John J. Pershing High School in 1993. She attended Wayne State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Master of Science in Reading. She received her Educational Specialist Degree in Leadership and Administration from Oakland University while enrolled in a dual Ph.D. Program. Under her leadership, Pulaski academic performance has improved tremendously; our school grade has increased from an F to a C. She was also named 2022-2023 DPSCD Principal of the Year.

Her vision is to Rebuild Relationships, Refine Climate and Culture, Improve Student Achievement; and Go Hard on the Work, Not the Stakeholder. She has served in various capacities at Pulaski Elementary/Middle School; Literacy Instructional Specialist and Assistant Principal. She focuses on being an Instructional Leader, ensuring high levels of teaching and learning occur in our classrooms daily through an equitable lens. At Pulaski we pride ourselves on a family-orientated atmosphere and making decisions that are in the best interest of our students. We work collaboratively to ensure all students receive a high quality education. Her goal is to ensure that students and families experience the best Pulaski has to offer.
