Nicolette Jefferson
Nicolette Jefferson has served Detroit Public Schools Community District for the past 21 years striving to make lasting connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe. In her current position as Assistant Principal, she is committed to maximizing academic outcomes by ensuring all students are afforded quality, meaningful instruction. She is a dedicated life-long learner who strives to provide the school community with a transformative educational experience.
Ms. Jeferson’s overarching goal is to encourage dynamic student engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning. She is devoted to making certain Mumford High School is a transformative educational experience where every student is nurtured, challenged, and encouraged to explore their passions, develop critical thinking skills, and become resilient individuals equipped to navigate an ever-changing world.

Rena Godfrey
Ms. Rena Godfrey is excited to introduce herself as the 11th grade Assistant Principal of Mumford High School and a proud graduate of Detroit Public Schools Community District. Ms. Godfrey has been in the field of education for over 20 years in various capacities from Computer Educational Technician, District Network Administrator, Data Specialist, District Technology Coach, Computer Technology Teacher, and Lead Teacher in various districts, and finally returned back to the district where it all began in 2020.
Ms. Godfrey holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science with a Microsoft Engineering Certification, a Master Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Computer Science with a minor in Secondary Mathematics and another Master Degree in Leadership in Educational Administration along with multiple certificates of training.
Ms. Godfrey frequently supports and contributes to an array of public service initiatives in the areas of education, economics, wellness, political and international awareness.
Her most important job is a student advocate, building partnerships with families, encouraging, mentoring, and empowering staff. You will find her spending much of her time with staff and students celebrating their triumphs, big or small.
Ms. Godfrey goal is to provide a safe and nurturing educational environment that challenges our students to reach beyond their expectations to become lifelong learners who will make the world a better place. She strives to be a leader who is supportive, intentional and offer a reliable place for students and staff to authentically be heard.
