Jeanine Melton

Jeanine D. Melton was born and raised in Detroit and is a product of the Detroit Public Schools system.  She has spent the last 19 years educating and leading in the city of Detroit.  Her journey as an educator began at Detroit Public Schools and moved to various districts, but she finally returned back home to the district that was responsible for her education. 

After graduating from Redford High School, Ms. Melton attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI to obtain a B.A. in English with a Secondary Education certification.  Once returning to Detroit and beginning her teaching career she began advance degree work completing a Master in the Art of Teaching and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, both from Marygrove College.  

Passionate about service and her community, Ms. Melton participates in numerous charitable organizations, activities and events each month including Gleaners Food Bank, Salvation Army food truck, walks for multiple sclerosis and breast cancer  and working with veterans, just to name a few.  

Ms. Melton joined the Mustang staff in 2016 as an English teacher and later transitioned to Assistant Principal.  Her goals are to educate the urban student in an academically rigorous, emotionally positive and engaging environment.

Tanya Cross-White

Mrs. Tanya White (Cross), Ed.S., is a proud graduate of Detroit Public Schools having completed studies at Fitzgerald Elementary, Vetal Middle, and Cass Tech High. Mrs. White has been a Michigan educator for nearly 30 years and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in History and Social Studies with a Minor in English, and a Master Degree in the Art of Teaching. Her Education Specialist Administrative Degree is in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Curriculum Design. Currently, she is completing Doctoral studies in Educational Leadership. Mrs. White joined the Detroit Public Schools in 1991 and has served as a Teacher, Instructional Specialist and District-Wide PD Facilitator, Dean of Instruction and Dean of Culture. In her various roles, she has supported learners and staffs at Scripps Elementary, Osborn High, Central Office, Bow ElementaryMiddle, Edison Elementary and Mumford High. She has also instructed and coached in university teacher training programs. Mrs. White positions herself to show care and support with integrity, modeled by her wonderful teachers in the DPS organization and her family, and she remains friends with former teachers and students alike. She is excited to support Principal Perry, staff, students, families and community partnerships at Mumford High.
