Mrs. Teneia Ross-Terry Biography

Our principal, Mrs. Ross-Terry arrived at DPSCD as an experienced K-8 principal. This school year she will serve in her 5th year as a principal. She has been an educator for the past 20 years. She graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and an endorsement in Special Education, as well as earning a Masters degree in Education Leadership. She is currently attending Grand Valley State University to earn an administrative certificate in Special Education. Her philosophy and goals encompass leading a community that reflects strong academics, culture, equity, and diversity. She gained an array of knowledge as it relates to school culture, special education, curriculum and instructional strategies and skills, also having knowledge and experience of high school curriculum, expectations and requirements students need to graduate. Her extensive experience in the charter school community led her to excel from the classroom to leadership and become a more innovative thinker and leader.

She has served in a multitude of roles throughout her 20 years of service and has had the pleasure of working in K-12 schools. She will continue building her knowledge, ability, and skills to ensure students have the opportunity to achieve at their highest ability and meet them where they are to work on closing the achievement gaps. Her final goal is to continue to support each and every student in becoming an independent learner and to set high expectations, so our students continue to thrive in their college career and life.

"I am ecstatic to serve this community as principal and to bring a diverse perspective to our families".
