Ms. Julie McElroy

Ms. Julie McElroy is the Assistant Principal at Cooke STEM Academy and a proud educator with over 29 years’ experience. She began her career in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District first as a middle school mathematics teacher, and then a K-12 Math and Reading Instructional Coach. Ms. McElroy rounded out her career in Cleveland as the Assistant Principal at Orchard STEM School, where her leadership and guidance helped culminate in the school receiving official STEM status from the State of Ohio. Ms. McElroy joined DPSCD in the fall of 2019 where she became the Assistant Principal at Mackenzie Elementary-Middle School.

Ms. McElroy grew up in Akron, Ohio. She received her B.S. in Education from Indiana University (Bloomington) and her M.ED. in Curriculum and Instruction as well as her Administrator’s certificate from Cleveland State University. She is also an Ohio Master Teacher and Resident Educator Mentor and has been a part of multiple projects such as short cycle assessment writing, GCEDC math writing, District School Quality Review, math/science partnership coaching, and Apple ConnectEd for schools.

Ms. McElroy’s mission is to create a collaborative learning environment for students as future scholars who are prepared to solve complex problems in an increasingly changing world. She also endeavors to develop positive relationships within the school and community and works to support teachers and staff so that they can reach their greatest potential and foster a positive school culture.
