Welcome teachers, students, staff, parents and community members!
As I enter my sixth year as Principal, I am truly excited and humble to serve in this position. I will be entering my 28th year of education, and it still fills my heart with joy working with students and staff.
It takes a village to educate a child. I will work tirelessly to provide optimal 21st century educational leadership services for your children, in addition to building positive and productive working relationships with teachers, staff, parents and the community. As we navigate the current challenges that our society is facing, our teachers, support staff and the administrative team are committed to educating our students in a clean, safe and supportive environment.
Noble Elementary-Middle School has highly-qualified teachers who will provide exceptional instructional services to your children. We will continue to implement the EL Education and Eureka Math curricular, along with the district’s Science, Social Studies curricular, with fidelity. The EL Education and Eureka Math curricular has proven to be successful in assisting our students to achieve proficiency, growth and development. We will continue to use our support staff (i.e. paraprofessionals, academic interventionists, and City Year Americorps members) to facilitate small-groups and individualized activities to assist “all” students.
City Year Americorps, Cool Chemistry, STEM Genius, Emerging Opals, Pretty Brown Girls, Detroit Police Department Male Mentoring Group, Faith Soars Counseling, Community Lens, Pathways to Potentional, Littlefield Community, Detroit Pistons Legends, Detroit Red Wings, Greater Southern Baptist Church, DPSCD SAC Council, etc., are additional programs that continue to be fixtures at Noble. It is truly a blessing to know that our students will have additional support to be successful.
Noble’s Leadership Academy will continue their mission to support our district’s and school’s mission and vision. Our 5th grade students will be engaged in numerous activities that will help them develop their leadership skills. Our 6th-8th grade students will serve as Ambassadors and assist with tutoring and mentoring elementary school students. Our Championship Athletic Program will be in “full force” this school year.
Parental involvement is key to the academic success of students, so we look forward to working with you. There are numerous programs and activities to support you through the district’s Family and Community Engagement Department.
Noble’s school hours will remain: 7:30 am to 2:40 pm. Half-day dismissal is at 10:45 am.
I look forward to our continued partnerships with students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members. We will continue to have Monthly Parent Meetings, in addition to our Annual Title One Meeting, Open House and Curriculum Nights. More information is forthcoming in reference to dates and times.
I look forward to a positive and productive 2022-2023 school year.
“1 Mission ~ 1 Vision ~ 1 Team”
Sincerely,
Dr. Norwood
