Ms. Sheara McCleskey Ferguson
Sheara McCleskey Ferguson serves as the ESE Assistant Principal at Emerson
Elementary-Middle School, bringing more than 30 years of experience in Education as a teacher, instructional leader, and administrator. In her current role, she leads special education services, ensuring IEP compliance, supporting teachers and paraprofessionals, and fostering a collaborative school culture that prioritizes
student success.
Ms. McCleskey Ferguson’s career spans multiple schools and districts, where she has championed equity in education, developed targeted intervention programs, and implemented effective instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners. Her expertise includes special education program oversight, data-driven decision making, restorative practices, and building strong partnerships between families, staff, and the community.
She holds a Master’s degree in Learning Disabilities from Madonna University, an Administrative Certification from Oakland University, and earned her Undergraduate Degree from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. She also served as an Adjunct Instructor at Wayne State University, where she guided aspiring educators in best practices for teaching and leadership.
Ms. McCleskey Ferguson is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and an advisor to the Co-Ette Club, Inc., mentoring young women in leadership, scholarship, and service. Her leadership is grounded in the belief that every child can thrive when provided with high expectations, individualized support, and a safe, inclusive environment.
A dedicated member of the Emerson community, Ms. McCleskey Ferguson is committed to maintaining open communication with staff and families, and to being a visible, supportive presence in classrooms and school activities. Outside of her professional responsibilities, she values time with her family and actively engages in community service initiatives.
