Honor Roll
CMA proudly recognized 164 students who earned a minimum 3.0 GPA on their Q1 report card at the Quarter 1 Honor Roll Assembly. This represents more than 40% of CMA’s total enrollment! Let’s keep the momentum going and aim to raise that percentage for Quarter 2. This is THE CMA WAY!
Progress Report Marking #2:
Students will receive their Progress Report on Friday, December 5 at the end of their sixth hour class. This will be the last official Progress Report before the end of Semester 1. As a reminder, Semester 1 grades will be on the student’s official High School Transcript. Parents, please encourage your students to actively participate in the seventh hour Instructional Recovery period and/or Extended After-School Tutoring to get back on track or to get ahead.
After school Tutoring:
After school tutoring is available for all students, grades 9-12. Students who need additional academic support should sign up for extended after-school tutoring on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Students are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 to remain in good standing and enrolled at Communication & Media Arts High School. Please contact 313 866-9300 if you have any questions.
Student Tardiness and Attendance:
CMA is experiencing a growing number of students with consistent absences and or tardies. Parents, please recognize the importance of having your students in school daily and on time. Every minute a student misses school is instructional time they cannot get back. This directly affects their grades and their overall success. Additionally, students who are habitually tardy will jeopardize their ability to participate in field trips and extra-curricular activities. Please note, the building opens at 7:15 am daily. If attendance is a struggle, call us at 313-866 -9300. CMA’s Attendance Agent is Ms. Erica Thompson, erica.thompson@detroitk12.org
Holiday Jubilee Activities:
On Friday, December 19, 2025, students can participate in CMA’s Annual Holiday Jubilee. The festive activities include Holiday Sing Along, Don’t Forget the Lyrics, Christmas Ugliest Sweater\Tee-shirt contest, spoken word, and more… Jubilee winners will receive prizes. The cost of each ticket is $5.00, this includes relaxed dress (Thursday, December 18th and Friday, December 19th ) and refreshments. Tickets go on sale, Monday, December 15. Tickets are sold on a first come first served basis. See Ms. Green in the main office.
