    How to Qualify

You must attend every hour of every school day during the 5-day cycle. If there’s a Districtwide school closure, then that day will count as “present” for the day.

End of Course (EOC) Middle of Year (MOY) Assessment Dates:

The End-of-Course assessments (EOCs) are taken by high school students enrolled in year-long courses in core subject areas. Parents, please be reminded that Middle of the Year End of Course Assessments are quickly approaching after we return from break. 10th grade students will begin Civics Assessments on January 12, 2026. All other remaining EOC assessments will begin the week of January 20, 2026. Please be vigilant in encouraging your students(s) to get rest and do their best.

    After school Tutoring:

After school tutoring is available for all students, grades 9-12. Students who need additional academic support should sign up for extended after-school tutoring on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Students are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 to remain in good standing and enrolled at Communication & Media Arts High School. Please contact 313 866-9300 if you have any questions.

    Student Tardiness and Attendance:

CMA is experiencing a growing number of students with consistent absences and or tardies. Parents, please recognize the importance of having your students in school daily and on time. Every minute a student misses’ school is instructional time they cannot get back. This directly affects their grades and their overall success. Additionally, students who are habitually tardy will jeopardize their ability to participate in field trips and extra-curricular activities. Please note, the building opens at 7:15 am daily. If attendance is a struggle, call us on 313-866 -9300. CMA’s Attendance Agent is Ms. Erica Thompson, erica.thompson@detroitk12.org
