  • First Annual Financial Literacy Day

    CMA students participated in our first Financial Literacy Day on Friday, April 26, 2024. CMA thanks DPSCD’s Social Studies Department, our very own Mr. Conwell, State Farm, Ford, and a host of other financial and career institutions. Thanks to this collaboration, our Pharaohs are learning how to become financially fit!

    Senior Parent Meeting- April 30, 2024

    CMA will host its Second Semester Senior Parent Meeting, Tuesday, April 30, 2024 @ 5:30 pm in the cafeteria. We will share information, updates, and due dates regarding Senior Dues, FAFSA, Graduation and Prom. We hope to see you then.

    MSTEP Social Studies & Science Assessment

    All 11th Grade students will take the Social Studies and Science M-STEP Assessment on Tuesday, April 30th. Parents, this is a mandatory exam and the last required assessment in the Spring Michigan Merit Examination. Please make sure your student is present and on time. Thank you for your support.

    2024 CMA’s College Tour Explosion

    CMA is excited to announce that we received the 2024 DCAN College Mini-Grant. CMA’s Juniors participated in two college and career visits, Western Michigan University, and the Suburban Showcase College Fair. Our 9th and 10th grade students will have the upcoming listed experiences:  

    • April 30, 2024 - Oakland University College Tour (Selected 10th/12th Grade Students)
    • May 7, 2024 - Wayne State University College Experience (9th Grade Students ONLY)

    Note: Students should make sure they have completed all their XELLO Lessons to be eligible to attend!

    Quarter 4 Progress Reports

    Semester 2 Q4 Report Cards will be distributed on Friday, May 10, 2024, during the 6th hour class. Parents, please review and discuss with your son/daughter their current academic performance. As a reminder, we only have five short weeks remaining until the end of the school year for 9th – 11th grade students and three short weeks remaining for 12th grade students.

    National Teacher’s Appreciation Week

    May 6 – May 10, 2024, is National Teacher’s Appreciation Week. CMA’s Administration is thankful for the expertise, dedication, and hard work of all our teachers. Families, please reach out to your son/daughter’s teacher and share with them words and/or sentiments of gratitude. “A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart.” ~Unknown

    Grow Detroit's Young Talent-Summer Employment Portal Open For Ages 14-24! 

    DPSCD’s Office of College and Career Readiness would like to encourage all high school students to participate in Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT), a citywide paidsummer youth employment program that trains and employs young adults between the ages of 14 and 24 for up to 120 hours (six weeks).  Applications close May 31, 2024.  https://gdyt.org/  

    CMA’S Dress Code

    Parents, please be mindful of your son/daughter’s dress code with the change of the weather and temperature. CMA’s Dress Code colors are black, white, or purple only. (Please make special note, the color “gray” is not part of CMA’s dress code colors). This includes bottoms, sweaters, and hoodies. Crop tops, tank tops, shorts, distressed, or torn jeans are not permitted. Additionally, flip flops, house shoes, or slides of any type, are not permitted. Parents, please observe your son or daughter’s attire when leaving for school. Students who violate the dress code policy will be subject to the Student Code of Conduct. Thank you for your support.

    IMPORTANT - Edgenuity Credit Recovery last day to complete May 3, 2024, for Seniors

    Classes are on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Please contact Assistant Principal Miller if you have any questions or concerns.

     After-School Tutoring

    Parents, please know that all teachers are available daily for academic support during the 7th hour from 2:36-3:00 p.m. During this time, students can receive assistance with homework, missed assignments, and daily lessons directly from their teachers. Please email your child’s teacher if you have further questions.

    Extended after-school tutoring Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

    Extended afterschool tutorial is available for all students in the areas of Math, English, Science, and Social Studies. Extended after-school tutorial meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Please contact 313 866-9300 if you have any questions. Parents, please encourage your son/daughter to take advantage of this additional academic support.

    Senior Dues

    The fourth and final installment of senior dues was due on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Payments are still being taken during students’ lunch and 7th hour. Only cash, money orders, or cashiers’ checks are accepted. See Ms. Green in the main office if you have any questions.
