CMA BUILDING UPGRADES ANCHOR INVESTMENTS
CMA is undergoing a long-awaited makeover. Upgrades include Art & Life Skills Classroom renovations, secured entrance upgrades, heating & cooling upgrades, and main office renovations. Construction is currently taking place and will continue fall 2024.
MSTEP SCIENCE ASSESSMENT
All 11th Grade students will take the Science M-STEP Assessment on Thursday, May 4. Parents, this is the last required assessment in the Spring Michigan Merit Examination.
SENIOR POTENTIAL FAILURE LIST
Teachers will be providing names of any seniors earning an F or a low percentage that will result in failing a class needed for May 31st graduation.
SPECIAL SENIOR PROGRESS REPORT CARD- May 5, 2023
Families, as the Graduation Countdown clock begins to tick, all C/O 2023 Seniors will receive a Progress Report on Friday, May 5, 2023. The purpose of this progress report is to ensure seniors’ graduation readiness status.
COURSE REQUEST FOR 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR
Students will begin course requests for next school year on Tuesday, May 15, 2023, and Wednesday, May 16, 2023. Administration will provide more details.
QUARTER 3 HONOR ROLL ASSEMBLY
CMA celebrates our Honor Roll students! Students who earned a 3.0 GPA for Quarter 3 Report Card will be honored on Wednesday; May 10, 2023 @ 9:00 a.m. Honorees will receive a special invitation to this celebration. Congratulations Pharaohs!
C/O 2023 SENIOR DUES
The 4th Installment of senior dues was due Thursday, April 6, 2023. Payments are taken during students’ lunch hour on Thursdays only. Please contact Mrs. Hudson-Johnson if you have any questions.
C/O 2023 PROM ATTIRE APPROVAL
All students must select appropriate prom attire that is not too revealing. Also, males must wear a suit with a tie or tuxedo and dress shoes with a hard bottom. No sneakers, gym shoes, slip on boots of any kind will be allowed. The prom attire approval form has been distributed and will also be in the main office. All students must have an approval form processed prior to purchasing tickets. C/O 2023 Prom is Friday, May 26, 2023.
FAFSA
C/O 2023 families, please work with your senior to complete the FAFSA package a.s.a.p. CMA’s processing goal is 100% and we are currently 50%. Please contact CMA’s College Transition Advisor, Ms. Hudson-Johnson at 313 866-9300 if you have any questions.
AFTERSCHOOL EDGENUITY CREDIT RECOVERY
Credit Recovery meets, face-to-face, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 3:00-5:00 p.m. and Fridays, 3:00-4:00 p.m. Please continue to encourage your child to actively attend and participate in credit recovery to support an on-time graduation. Please contact 313 866-9300 if you have any questions.
ACADEMIC PROGRESS & INTERVENTIONS
CMA is a DPSCD Examination High School. Students are to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 to remain in academic good standing and avoid probation status. CMA’s Administration continues to meet with students who fall below this expectation and an Academic Intervention Letter, which explains their status and actions needed to improve their academic status, will be shared with parents.

7TH HOUR INSTRUCTIONAL RECOVERY/TUTORING, 2:36 – 3:00 P.M. DAILY
Families, please know that all teachers are available for student support during the 7th hour from 2:36-3:00 p.m. Please encourage your students to attend and email your child’s teacher if you have further questions.

Our next parents' meeting will be Tuesday, April 16, 2023 @ 7 p.m. PTSA meetings can be attended virtually, via Zoom link: Join Zoom Meeting Https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81767611155 . PTSA elections will be held in May. Please let the school know if you are interested in running for a position on the PTSA for 2023-2024. Open positions that are required by PTSA are President, Treasurer, and Secretary. We would also like to have a communication representative, youth engagement or student representative and a reflections chair.
