Hello Families! Here is news you can use along with important school updates.
Construction & Renovation
-
The new main office is now located on the Eastside of the building. Families and guests must now enter the building using Door 3. (CMA’s canopy is still under construction but should be completed by early Fall.)
-
Good news, the gymnasium floor is now finished. The Pharaohs are officially in the house with our logo taking center stage!
Morning Entry
CMA’s doors open daily by 7:30 a.m. Parents, please encourage your son/daughter to prepare the night before and to manage their time in the morning to ensure an on-time start to their school day. As a reminder teaching and learning begins at 8:00 a.m. and students arriving after this time will be marked “tardy.” CMA’s goal for daily attendance is 95%.
Schoolwide Expectations
Breakfast is served daily from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Students who arrive after 8:15 AM will be required to remain in the café until 9:00 AM (2nd hour). This will minimize disruptions to the 1st hour teaching and learning process. Students riding the shuttle must scan their student IDs and remain seated throughout the bus ride. This is for the safety of all students on the bus. Any student who cannot adhere to these simple bus safety rules may have their privilege of riding the shuttle revoked. Students remaining in school after dismissal must be with an authorized teacher, athletic coach, or club sponsor. If students are not, they will be asked to leave the building. All students are required to have and wear their 2023-2024 student photo I.D. Any students that have not taken their picture this year need to see Mr. Lovelady during their lunch hour to have their photo taken.
Dress Code
Students are required to wear CMA school colors, which are black, dark purple, and/or white. Parents, please note, grey articles of clothing are not a school dress code color and are not permitted. In addition, Administration and staff have noted numerous unacceptable items such as holes or rips, shorts, midriff, tank tops, multi-colored graphic hoodies/tees, and bubble slides.
Please see CMA’s website at https://www.detroitk12.org/cma for a complete description of the dress code policy. The Dress Code policy was also distributed to students and families during the Summer Orientations. Students who violate the Dress Code Policy will be referred to Administration. Thank you for your support.
