Bunche Bobcat's athletic teams are all co-ed and start as young as Pre-School. Each program has its own schedule. Information about tryouts for the 2021-2022 year will be sent home in September and October. Parents that are interested in signing up their child may contact the office at 313-494-8350

Academic Games
Academic Games is a series of games designed to excite and measure student knowledge in a variety of themes. Students develop proficiency and self-confidence by competing in games of Math, English, Social Studies, and Logic. By competing against each other, students are encouraged and motivated to sharpen their skills to gain a competitive edge over their peers. Academic Games is not only exciting but makes learning fun for students! If you are interested please contact the school.

Soccer
We are excited to offer a cost free non-competitive soccer team for students 6 years and Under! Preschool, Kindergarten and First Grades.
- Uniforms will be provided
- Practices will be held after school twice a week
- All games will be on Saturdays

STEM Programs

Coding
Students are learning about opportunities in the STEM fields. Current STEM lessons are focused on coding. Students are using Blockly to solve coding puzzles and create their own programs.

Equity
EquityThis class is catered to the needs of students at Bunche Academy.Our equity lessons are focused on Black culture, history, and deaf culture. Students learn beginners ASL (American Sign Language), we are working to bridge the communication gap between our hearing and hard of hearing staff and students. -
Chess
Detroit Public Schools Community District is proud to sponsor the Metro Detroit Scholastic Chess League (City League) which features Elementary, Middle and High School teams from the Detroit area. Teams compete to see who the top chess teams in the city. If Interested, please contact the school.
Enrichment

After School Tutoring
After-School Tutoring is provided to students 1st - 8th grades . It will begin on Tuesday, 10/26/21. Meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 PM to 4:30 PM in a small group setting, students receive assistance from instructional staff. Dinner/Evening snack is also provided.

Female Mentorship
Latisha Smith is the Assistant Principal at Bunch Preparatory Academy where she started Girls Revamped, a mentoring program for 7th and 8th grade girls. In the group the girls discuss topics and issues that affect women once a week during their lunch time.
