Bagley Elementary hosts several annual events to help raise our scholars awareness on global issues and to promote community involvement. Some activities and events are specific to our school, while others are district wide.

Black History Month
To celebrate Black History month, students research different black history figures and events. At the end of the month, students or classes make a presentation on the black history figure or event selected.

Career Week
Every spring we host Career Week where parents and members of the community visit our classrooms to share their career choices with students. The purpose is to expose our students to variety of life paths and opportunities.

Literacy Night
Every year our Master Teachers coordinate Family Literacy Night where families interact with fun hands-on activities that promote reading and writing skills. Each teacher has an area for families to stop by and participate. The event always includes raffle prizes and free giveaways.

Math Bee
All Bagley scholars in lower-elementary bracket (1st and 2nd grades) and upper-elementary bracket (3rd, 4th, and 5th grades) are encouraged to participate in the March Madness Mathematics Bee. The process includes a classroom and school-wide math bee.
Class competitions are held to name the 1st place and 2nd place winners for the lower-elementary bracket and the upper-elementary bracket.
A School-wide competition for the lower-elementary bracket and the upper-elementary bracket is held to name 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place winners.
Both 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place winners will receive a medal and a certificate from the Office of Mathematics.

Spelling Bee
All Bagley scholars grades 3-6 are invited to participate in the Spelling Bee. Each scholar is given a packet that includes a list of spelling words to study.
Classroom Spelling Bee: A classroom spelling bee is held for each class.
School-wide Speilling Bee: All classroom winners will participate in the schoolwide spelling bee to .
3rd Step: Schoolwide winner and runner-up will participate in the district spelling Bee.
A Winner and runner-up iand winners ais held first and winners from the classroom spelling bee are moved to the school spelling bee. and directions to participate. Scholars must practice and be prepared to spell words along with others. Each student will receive a certificate at the end of the program.

Field Trip
All Bagley scholars grades Pre-K-6 grade will attend educational field trips that support their academic and cultural development. Teachers coordinate outings based on the curriculum content outlined by the district.

Pink Out Day (Breast Cancer Awareness)
Every October Bagley scholars participate in our annual Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Out day and neighborhood walk. Students make signs, posters, and recite chants to help the community raise their awareness of Breast Cancer.

Unity Day
DPSCD proudly supports National Unity Day every October. All students and staff are encouraged to wear orange as a visual pledge to Anti-Bullying efforts.
