Thanksgiving Baskets for Fisher Lower Families

  • Thanksgiving was wonderful for Fisher Magnet Lower families thanks to the F.R.E.C. The F.R.E.C also provides educational opportunities for area children and increases access to essential services for residents and families.  The FREC on the city’s east side is part of a $15 million global network of community centers Ford Fund operates to help carry out its mission of strengthening communities and making people’s lives better. Gleaners Community Food Bank operates a client choice food pantry at the FREC as part of its mission to provide households with access to sufficient, nutritious food. This year the F.R.E.C., Ford Fund and Gleaner's partnered together to provide healthy Thanksgiving Baskets with a plump turkey, fresh vegetables and all the amazing sides.  They provided 50 baskets to families at Fisher Magnet Lower with the help of   Mrs. Lockett, (Teacher's Assistant), Ms. Dennis (Pathway to Potential, Success Coach),Ms. Davis (MSU Social Work Intern), Mrs. Smith (School Social Worker), Mr. Kimpson, Ms. Braddock and other volunteers.
