Second Grade Triumph: Rising Up and Reading More to Secure Third Place in District Competition

In a heartening display of dedication and enthusiasm for literacy, Mrs. Guilford's second-grade class clinched third place in the prestigious "Rise Up, Read More" district competition. Among a plethora of schools vying for the top spot, these young readers showcased their passion for books and reading, leaving an indelible mark on the literary landscape of our Edison School and district.

The "Rise Up, Read More" competition is an initiative aimed at fostering a love for reading among elementary school students. It challenges participating classes to delve into a diverse array of books, ranging from classic tales to contemporary gems, and encourages them to explore the boundless realms of imagination and knowledge contained within the pages.

For Mrs. Guilford's second-graders, this competition was more than just a chance to showcase their reading skills—it was an opportunity to embark on an exciting literary adventure together. Under the guidance of their devoted teacher, Mrs. Guilford, these young scholars immersed themselves in the enchanting world of books, turning each page with eager anticipation and curiosity.

"We wanted to instill in our students a lifelong love for reading," says Mrs. Guilford, beaming with pride. "The competition provided the perfect platform to ignite their passion for books and empower them to become avid readers."
