Check Out Five Things You Need to Know This Week!
Families are invited to join the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) Board of Education’s Board Community meeting on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at East English Village Preparatory Academy at Finney, in the school’s cafeteria located at 5020 Cadieux in Detroit.
For this Board Community meeting, from 5 p.m.-5:30 p.m., DPSCD senior leaders from Family and Community Engagement (FACE), Curriculum and Instruction (C and I), Schools Division, Facilities, and Public Safety, will be available to answer your questions, hear your suggestions as well as address your concerns.
From 5:30 p.m.- 6 p.m., DPSCD Superintendent, Dr. Nikolai Vitti, will provide an update on schools as well as address themes from the various reports. From 6 p.m.-6:30 p.m., Board of Education President Angelique Peterson-Mayberry and Vice-President Misha Stallworth West will provide the community with a report on Board of Education business and activities.
Welcome Wednesday Virtual Open House March 8, 2023: Led by the Office of Enrollment, this week’s featured schools for the Welcome Wednesday Virtual Open House will be Ronald Brown Academy, Carstens Academy of Aquatic Science and Chrysler Elementary School. The online Open House runs from 4:30 – 5 :30 p.m. Interested families please register for this free event. Click here to register.
Level Up to High School Expo is Saturday, March 18, 2023: Parents and families of 8th grade students, we want to see you at the Level Up to High School Expo on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Renaissance High School (6565 W. Outer Dr. in Detroit). The morning will begin with an information-packed Town Hall to set the tone on what your incoming high schooler will need in order to stay on the path to success in high school; register today to save your seat. All Neighborhood, Application, and Exam High Schools, along with support services departments will be present. We’ll see you on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Level Up to High School Expo!
Parents as Heroes Engagement Conference Set for Thursday, March 23, 2023: Families, this gathering is for you! Led by the Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE), the conference will be held at the Renaissance Center Detroit Marriott from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. on March 23, 2023. Participants will hear from guest speakers, enjoy breakfast and lunch as well as educational workshops. For more details, please click here. Family Resource Distribution Center (FRDC) Resources Pickup on Thursday, March 9, 2023: Led by the Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) and with supportive partners, donation-based family resources are available to our families, we are here to support you. Come to the FRDC, located at 16164 Asbury Park in Detroit, 48235, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Be prepared to load items.
