Clippert's Annual Spelling Bee

On Tuesday, February 11th, twenty-eight students participated in Clippert's Annual Spelling Bee. In the weeks prior to this event students competed in classroom-level events. Each homeroom had two students participate in the school wide Bee.

Students and staff gathered in the gym for the main even. Teacher organizers Mr.Hurt and Ms.Miller led students in the traditional
spelling bee sequence: "industrial, i-n-d-u-s-t-r-i-a-l, industrial". Throughout the first four rounds students were keeping the competition hot! Only a few students went down in these early rounds. As the words become more challenging, more students went out and the audience gave them a supportive round of applause as they made their way to the benches.

After an intense competition, two eighth graders Manny Soto and Mauricio Trujillo (the reigning Clippert Spelling Bee champion) remained. The final word came - disinfectant- and Mauricio came out on top once again! Outstanding job, Mauricio! Great work to all of our participating students and the staff who made this great event possible. Phenomenal, p-h-e-n-o-m-e-n-a-l, phenomenal!
