Destination Imagination State Tournament

On April 13th, Clippert students participated in the Destination Imagination State Tournament in East Lansing, MI. Clippert had five teams representing DPSCD with Mrs.Ortiz serving as their team manager. The weekend was highly enjoyable for the students, accompanying staff, and parent chaperones. Friday night students were given the opportunity to check out Impressions 5 Science Museum in Lansing, MI with other Destination Imagination participants from around the state. On Saturday students started off bright & early with each group performing their planned skit, as well as participating in a highly secretive Instant Challenge. The Instant Challenges ask students to solve a problem using teamwork and their creative thinking skills.
While all of our teams performed admirably, the Dream Team captured 3rd place and qualified for Global Finals taking place next month in Kansas City, Missouri! The Dream Team performed an improvisational skit based on specific criteria that were laid out by Destination Imagination for this year’s tournament. This year the theme was “Head’s Up” and a coin was flipped to decide if the skit would be a comedy or a tragedy. Additionally, the Futuristics team earned 7th place with the Engineering based performance, and the Diamond Stars got 9th place in the Fine Arts category. Great job to all of our teams and good luck at Global Finals Dream Team!
