Carstens Visits Quicken Loans

The Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP), in partnership with Quicken Loans through their QSTEM program, invited Carstens students to Quicken Loans buildings in Downtown Detroit.

On October 23 and October 25, 2019, 7th and 8th grade students from Carstens Academy enjoyed a great day at Quicken Loans.  Group of students were paired with Quicken Loans volunteers that took them on a tour of several offices.  The tour included stops at Stock X, Rocket Mortage, the Cavaliers half basketball court, and the fun common workspace areas.

When the groups came back together, the QL volunteers helped students code small machines made by Byte Basics.  Students then fired up their engines and built small cars.  The students raced against the clock to built the car that would complete a race track in the shortest amount of time.  The car that was coded the best won!Students holding basketballs on a Cavaliers basketball court.
