Industry Tour Tuesday
In celebration of CTE month and SkillsUSA week, Breithaupt Career and Technical Center students participated in Industry Tour Tuesday. This event allowed students in each of Breithaupt’s six career pathway programs to get a glimpse of what it is like in their respective industries. The Auto Service students visited Feldman Ford and shadowed a Master Technician. Auto Body visited Bob Maxey Ford and got an up-close and personal look into the world of collision repair. Students from Cosmetology visited the Good Hair Bar, and got to experience what it is like working in a full-service salon. Culinary Arts students were treated to the Executive Chef tour at Motor City Casino. Mechatronics and Welding students visited Detroit Bikes and learned the role both Mechatronics and Welding play in commercial manufacturing. One of our students said, “It was really nice! We saw a whole lot of things that we would never have been able to see without the tour! It is an opportunity that every student should have.” Through coordination with our Industry partners and the Office of College and Career Readiness, approximately 250 students were able to take part in this eye-opening work-based learning experience.
