Check Out Five Things You Need to Know This Week!
This Week is American Education Week: Public school communities will be celebrated nationally this week (November 13, 2022-November 19, 2022) during American Education Week. Students, whether through reading, writing or conversation, give thanks to your teachers and professionals within DPSCD who love, challenge and prepare you at school. And honor your parents, grandparents and guardians for what they do to support and encourage your education.
Detroit Promise Scholarship Opportunities: Students and families, the Detroit Promise is a last-dollar scholarship that ensures all eligible Detroit residents have a tuition-free path to an Associate degree, Bachelor’s Degree or a Technical Certificate at participating academic institutions. There are 2-year and 4-year options. Students must attend Detroit Public Schools for the entire four years to qualify. Visit the link for additional information.
Examination High School Open Houses and Workshops: Students and families, there are several activities planned for this week to help you prepare your application for the District’s Examination High Schools:

In-person Open Houses will be held at the School of Marygrove High School on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 5 p.m.-6 p.m., at Southeastern High School on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. and at Cass Technical High School on Thursday, November 17, 2022, 5 p.m.-7 p.m.

Also, on Thursday, November 17, 2022, there’ll be an Exam High School online seminar for current high school students from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Teams. Remember, applications are due on Sunday, November 27, 2022, by 11:59 p.m.

ESE Gifted and Talented (GATE) Meeting is Tuesday, November 15, 2022: ESE Parents and families get the latest information on the ESE Gifted and Talented program at our next in-person meeting on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at the Golightly Education Center, 5536 St. Antoine in Detroit, 48202. As noted, this meeting will be in-person!
School Spotlight Bow Elementary-Middle School: The home of the Eagles, Bow Elementary-Middle School, is ready for your child to soar!
