Tutoring Program Overview: Key Details for Students and Parents

This tutoring program is designed to help students strengthen their reading and writing skills using the Orton-Gillingham Structures Curriculum. Here’s what you need to know to make the most of it:

Attendance Requirements:

  • No absences are allowed during the first week of the tutoring cycle.
  • After the first week, up to four absences are allowed during the 10-week cycle.
  • If you miss five or more sessions, you’ll be removed from the program and won’t be able to return.
  • Both school and tutoring attendance are required on designated days. If you miss school but attend tutoring, you will not be paid for that session.

Make-Up Sessions:

  • There are no make-up days available. Consistent attendance is essential to earn payment and to fully benefit from the program.

Payment Details:

  • Earn $1,000 after completing the first 20 sessions.
  • Additional payments will be provided upon finishing the final 20 sessions.
  • Payment depends on regular attendance and active participation.

Learning Goals:

  • Curriculum: Orton-Gillingham Structures Curriculum, which supports grades 6-12 students who need extra help with reading and spelling.
  • Skills Focused:
    • Phonics: Understanding how letters and sounds work together.
    • Spelling basics and complex word parts from Greek and Latin.
  • Outcomes: Gain effective strategies to improve reading and writing skills.

Cycle 1 Dates:
November 11, 2024 – February 11, 2025
