MLK Cheer Squad Honors Shawntia Jones, Retires Jersey at Homecoming

Last night, the MLK Cheer Squad Alumni and Coaching Staff came together during halftime of the homecoming game to honor the life of Ms. Shawntia Jones, a beloved Class of 2010 graduate who passed away on May 12, 2024, after a courageous battle with cervical cancer. Her uniform was officially retired, symbolizing her strength and dedication to raising awareness about the impact of cancer on our community. Shawntia’s fight serves as a reminder that cancer does not discriminate against age, gender, or ethnicity.
